20 People Doing Extraordinary Things (Video Edition)

As a follow-up to 100 People Doing Extraordinary Things, I’ve put together a video version below. Some of these folks I mentioned in the original post, others I just came across myself recently.

The point of all this is the same: There are lots of people out there in the world doing something extraordinary, and what sets them apart isn’t some unique physical gift or supreme intelligence, but their refusal to make excuses.

You’ll notice that every person featured below has had to conquer fear on some level. It would have been easier not to run that race, not to leave home, not to step into the spotlight. It would have been easier for them to just quit.

As you watch these videos, keep in mind that there’s no good reason you can’t be extraordinary, too.

8. Dick Hoyt completes Ironman competitions with his quadriplegic son Rick…

Love this comment on YouTube for the above video:

I want to feel bad for this man. I want to tear up. I want to pray for him to walk. But while I want to feel these things, I don’t. I feel like they are better off than I. I am sitting here asking myself what have I done? My tears are for me. How pitiful am I compared to these men? How weak am I? How selfish am I? I’ve been blessed with health and I am doing nothing with it. These men don’t need our prayers. We need theirs.

  1. Thank you for collecting these. Absolutely awestruck and inspired. No excuses, indeed.
I have three in my recent inspiration bin:

    - Man saves from $6/day earnigns for 30 years to build a much-needed clinic. http://aje.me/A9UKFr

    - Kyle Maynard, a quadrpelegic, climbs Kilimanjaro http://bit.ly/AiBKGd

    - The Nikon Release video “Why” (more about personal fulfillment and enjoyment but it is really pretty) http://vimeo.com/34666308

Hope you got some good eats, more reliable webs and are enjoying wherever you are this day!

  2. Thanks for bringing the inspiration once again Niall!

The takeaway from these posts for me is to find my passion and share it with the world!

    Keep on keeping on…

  3. I was just thinking the other day how Matt Harding reminded me a bit of you (big dreams, seeing the world). Thank you for this post. I am working on creating my own extraordinary thing.
